Langtang “Yak Trail” “Cheese Trail”
In Tibetan Lang means Yak and tang means ‘follow’/‘trail’ meaning the name is associated with ancient practice of Tran’s human taking animals to different pastureland for grazing at different season. Inhabited by the Sherpa and Tamang community different villages are named with different actions taken by Yak. The traditional butter production and its transport to Tibet remain at the heart of the local economy.
First Himalayan National park in Nepal ‘Flora and Fauna’
In 1976 to protect unique culture and nature government of Nepal established Langtang as first Himalayan National in Nepal. Langtang Valley is green, full of beautiful flora and small communities scattered along the valley walls. More than 60 Species of Mammals resides at Langtang naming few- Clouded Leopard, Snow leopard, Red Panda, Himalayan Bear, Langur, Musk deer, Red monkey, Himalayan Thar, Ghoral, Assamese monkey, Grey wolf, Leopard cat, and Tibetan sheep. Part is also home of more than 250 species of birds. The Himalayan Monal (national bird of Nepal) satyr tragopan, Ibisbil, Wood Snow partridge Tibetan snow cock, Himalayan snow cock Tibetan partridge, Oriental Honey Buzzard, Himalayan Griffin , Eurasian Griffin, Bar Headed goose, Red Headed Vulture , Cinereous Vulture, Yellow Rumped, Honey Guide, Common Teal, Tufted Duck are some of major attractive birds found in the park.
Chirping birds, hanging Red monkey, running musk deer, rare shy red panda in lush green bamboo, blue sheep strolling alpine meadows and mind refreshing Rhododendron forest refreshes every traveler.
Mountains and Rivers ‘Naturally Majestic’ ‘Adventure and Thrill’
Langtang Lirung 7425M is the highest peak , GhenguLiru (Langtang II 6571M), Dorje Lakpa 6980M, Gangchempo 6387m, Naya-Kanga 5846m, Jugal Himal 6080 M are major mountains in Langtang National park. Major Tributary of Koshi River system, River Sunkoshi originates in eastern part of Langtang from Glacier of Langtang. Major Tributary of Narayani River, Trisuli River originates in western part of Langtang.
We reach right next to Langtang Lirung and enjoy 360 view of Mountains and Glacier from different View top (RI)in Kangin Gumba. We can also hike near to glacier as well.
Culture ‘BonPo’ ‘Tamang Heritage’
Langtang is known as one of 7 Scared valley created by Guru Padmasambava as safe place from war, famine, natural disaster and place for mediation and knowledge.
Langtang is open museum to understand culture with nature, Bon Po religion and Tamang culture. Inhabitants of the Langtang valley are thought to be descendants of Tibetans from kerung who mingled with Tamang from Helambu region. Bonpo is ancient Tibetan culture before Introduction of Buddhism. As a shamanistic religion, it is characterized by mystic rituals, spells, sacrifices for gods and spirits, and spirit manipulation. This religion involves much emphasis on meditative practice. The current traditions of Buddhism such as prayer wheels, sky burials, prayer flags, spirit traps, festival dances, and rubbing holy stones have all come from the Bon religion.
Tamang are one the largest ethnic group in Nepal. Tamang culture and customs are widely seen in Langtang region, It is believed that “TAMANG” is said to be Tibetan word meaning as horse traders ‘TA’ means “Horse”, ‘MAN’ means “Trader”. They have their distinct culture, language and religion. They are traditionally Buddhist by religion with close relation with Hindu culture and custom from lower land. Singing and dancing in Damphu (traditional musical instruments) in Tamang Selo (melody) is one major attraction.
About the trail “Easy and Fun”
The best part Langtang trail is very easy and moderate walk with beautiful view each step moving forward, the flowing and refreshing sound of Langtang river adds charm to journey. From Syprubesi we walk through Dovan then to Bamboo to cross over to Lama Hotel. From here our journey moves towards Langtang valley, narrow river corridor valley with front view of Mt. Langtang Lirung, As we move forward the highest point of trek at Kanchen Gumba, holy spiritual and ancient Buddhism valley at 3800 M, its one the 7scared valley that is believed to be medicated by Guru Padmasambava. Visiting Kanchen Gumba to see monks performing their rituals is surreal experience. Beside Spiritual Buddhism paradise Kanchen Gumba is hidden beauty of nature, every corner is full of interesting places, visiting Glacier, walking towards Langsila (Holy place), exploring river, hiking to Kanchen Ri (top) 4750M and Charku Ri 5000M for 360 degree view of surrounding mountains, river valley, hills and glaciers is one of the best way to explore and see beautiful Langtang. Kanchen Gumba is also the starting point of 2 most technically difficult pass in the world- Tillman Pass and Ganja la.

Brief outline of trek plan
Day 01 Arrival in Kathmandu (1350m) Upon arrival you will be greeted and transferred to Hotel at Kathmandu. Our team leader will brief more on trek and preparation for round Annapurna trek. Team leader will also brief on local area and neighborhood. Enjoy Kathmandu. Afternoon/ Evening free time for independent activities. Over night at hotel
Day 02 Kathmandu: Visits in Kathmandu: Swayambu Stupa (World Heritage Site), also known as The Monkey Temple, with its 2500 years history. Later we visit historic world heritage site Kathmandu Durbar Square famous for Newa Culture and Architecture, Temples, ancient royal residence, Kasthamandap, The Living Goddess Kumari temple etc.
From Kathmandu we visit historic world heritage site Patan Durbar Square (WHS), also known as Lalitpur it means The City of Fine Art. The square is famous for good example of wood and stone carving temples, master piece wood carving window and doors, Taleju temple, The Royal Bath, Krishna Temple and many more. Overnight at Hotel
Day 03.Kathmandu to Syprubesi Today After early Breakfast we leave Kathmandu Valley to Syprubesi. Starting with Shivapuri Nagarjun National park this lush green trail makes you feels easy and happy leaving Kathmandu behind. The journey will take around 6 hour after numerous climb and downhill in hilly road.. (Overnight at hotel)
Day 04: Syprubesi –Lama Hotel Today after breakfast and last minute necessary logistic check we start our Journey. After crossing Suspension bride we move smoothly by river side towards Dovan (meeting point of two rivers), here after quick snack we walk towards Bamboo our lunch destination for day crossing interesting Pahiro village. Bamboo is situated by the river side; this place is one of location to sight rare Red Panda.
After Lunch we move towards our day destination Lama hotel. From Bamboo we climb then decent down to cross another suspension bridge to enter Langtang. From Here one long uphill we reach us refreshing Lama Hotel. (Overnight at hotel)
Day 05: Lama hotel- Mundu from Lama Hotel the trail is very gentle, walking in ever green forest with small uphill and down we crosses over to Riverside, after half hour walk we will have first glimpse of Langtang welcoming us with smile. From riverside we climb to Ghodatabela (Horse Stable), here we will stop for Lunch. Ghodatabela gives vibes of Langtang with Waterfall in either side with Langtang Lirung right in front, wide view of Langtang Valley and view of where to reach and trail to follow.
After Lunch walk becomes more easy and relaxing with refreshing breeze, wider and near view of Langtang Lirung and Valley, crossing small settlement, hoards of Yaks and smiling people working in agriculture field or taking care of beloved animals.
Before reaching Mundu we cross over Langtang village once biggest settlement reviving back after earthquake.
Day 06: Mundu- Kanchen Gumba (3584m) After Breakfast Short walk from Mundu takes us to Kanchen Gumba, one the way the view gets wider and more beautiful, with mountains either side, waterfall and settlement, with paint green forest. You will be walking above 3500M slowly towards Kanchen Gumba. At Kanchen Gumba after Lunch we will explore place, at Kanchen Gumba there is so much to see and explore, the airstrip, reaching river, visiting Gumba, exploring Glacier, hiking to Kanchen Ri( Top) view point and many more today and day after.
Day 07: Kanchen Gumba Today we will hike to Kanchen Ri( Top) 4750 M, reaching top we will be next to Langtang Lirung standing tall , with gentle breeze 360 degree view, mountains hills, birds and Kanchen Gumba down below. After Lunch break we explore remaining place with visit to cheese factory to understand how this tasty energy is made.
Day Eight: Kanchen Gumba- Lama Hotel – Today we start walking back thinking if we could stay couple of days more in this beauty of nature with lot more place to explore. Kanchen Gumba is starting place to interesting and challenging Mountain Passes (Tilman and Khajala both 5000M above). Never the less with beautiful memory and view we walk back to Lama Hotel with back view. On way back the questions like how I missed to see this place and this beautiful view will surely be on mind.
Day 09: Lama Hotel – Syprubesi – On the way back we will take way via Sherpa village to reach Syprubesi. Walking High above the trail we took while climbing up, passing farmland before descending down to cross suspension bridge. While downhill we question which one is better uphill or downhill?
Day 10: Syprubesi- Kathmandu Early Morning Bus/Jeep in around 6 hours will take us back to Kathmandu. On the way we will stop at multiple places for food and to rest with beautiful view.
Day 11 Free Day Time for Shopping and independent activities . In the evening we will go to Boudha and Nepali Dinner afterward.
Day 12 Final Departure to International Airport Our team leader will escort you to drop to the Airport 3 hours before your scheduled flight back home.
